Meet the Artist
Hi, I’m Lauren Harkness, a Central Virginia–based artist and designer with a passion for capturing moments that matter.
I am best known for my live wedding painting services, where I create original fine art paintings on site during weddings and events. Working throughout the ceremony and reception, I capture the atmosphere, scenery and emotion of the day in real time, resulting in a one-of-a-kind artwork that serves as both an experience for guests and a lasting keepsake for couples.
My fine art background spans painting, drawing, and mixed media, with work inspired by landscapes, portraiture, animals, and architectural forms. Time spent traveling throughout Europe has strongly influenced my artistic approach, particularly in my use of light, composition, and impressionistic techniques.
In addition to fine art, I offer graphic design services rooted in clarity, balance, and purpose. I believe thoughtful design has the power to elevate everyday experiences, and I approach each project with an attention to detail.
Across all mediums, my work is guided by a respect for craftsmanship and a desire to create art and design that feels intentional, timeless, and personal.
Travel
One of my greatest inspirations, especially in my Studio Artwork, is the places I’ve traveled to. I was fortunate to do a Study Abroad in London, England during my undergrad, and traveled to France, Switzerland and Italy. I love capturing the world around me on canvas and in clay!
Equestrian
Another one of my passions that inspires much of my artwork is horses. I grew up horseback riding from the time I was 8 years old and I enjoy connecting with the animals and admiring their beauty through my artwork.
